At the end of the sixth competition day of the European Championships, medals were contested in the women’s 86 kg weight category. Unfortunately, Natia Gedelia was not among the medalists.
Georgia’s representative, Natia Gedelia (86 kg), completed her performance at the Batumi European Championships with lifts of 106 kg in the snatch, 131 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 237 kg, finishing fourth in all three standings.
It was a successful day for Armenian weightlifter Emma Poghosyan, who secured bronze in the snatch (107 kg), and gold medals in both the clean and jerk (141 kg) and the total (248 kg). In addition, she set European junior records in the clean and jerk and in the total.
The individual neutral athlete Lana Sotiyeva finished just one kilogram behind the champion in the total. She won gold in the snatch (112 kg), bronze in the clean and jerk (135 kg), and silver in the total (247 kg).
British weightlifter Madias Nzesso stepped onto the third place of the podium. Notably, earlier in her career, representing Cameroon, she won a bronze medal at the London Olympic Games and was a three-time African champion.
Another medal was won by a representative of Armenia. Liana Gyurjyan earned a silver medal in the clean and jerk (135 kg). Lana Sotiyeva lifted the same weight, but since Gyurjyan completed 135 kg first, the medal was awarded to her.
