On the third competition day of the Batumi European Championships, the women’s 63-kilogram weight category proved highly varied in terms of results. Out of the 11 weightlifters competing in Group A, six became medalists. Notably, the top three in the total were left without medals in the snatch. Among them, the best was Great Britain’s Sarah Davies.

The British weightlifter was not particularly impressive in the snatch, recording the ninth-best result with 94 kilograms. However, she managed to make up for it in one go in the clean and jerk, where she lifted the highest weight of 125 kilograms, and along with taking first place, secured the championship with a total of 219 kilograms.

In the total (218), neutral athlete Alina Shchapanava trailed the British competitor by one kilogram. She placed sixth in the snatch (96) and second in the clean and jerk (122).

Another neutral athlete, Dziyana Maiseyevich, also finished without a medal in the snatch. With a total of 217 kilograms, the bronze medalist recorded the fifth-best result in the snatch (97) and the third-best in the clean and jerk (120).

As for the medals contested in the snatch, success went to France’s Maëlyn Michel (100), Romania’s Andreea Cotruța (99), and Ukraine’s Svitlana Moskvina (98), who claimed the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
