The sixth competition day of the European Championship ended with the victory of Bulgarian Karlos Nasar. The Paris Olympic Games champion, a three-time world champion and three-time European champion, added a fourth gold medal to his collection.

The representative of the 94 kg weight category secured his lead already in the snatch. He lifted 176 kg and on his third attempt attacked the world record (183), but was unsuccessful. He narrowly passed the clean and jerk. Out of three attempts, the judges counted only the second lift, where 210 kg was recorded on the board, which earned him the gold medal. He also won gold in the total with a combined 386 kg.

The closest to Karlos Nasar’s results was Armenian Narek Avagyan, although he trailed the champion by five kilograms in total (381). Third place went to French athlete Romain Imadouchène (370).

Among the medalists was also Turkish Hakan Şükrü Kurnaz, who managed to win a bronze medal in the snatch.

In the same weight category, Irakli Gobejishvili was supposed to compete, but unfortunately, due to the aggravation of an old injury, he was forced to withdraw from the competition.

Gobejishvili injured the quadriceps muscle of his right thigh during the final training session. Since only one week remained before the competition, despite active efforts by the coaching and medical staff, it was not possible to localize the injury in time. As a result, in order to avoid future complications, the athlete was withdrawn from the competition.
