The third competition day of the European Weightlifting Championships in the men’s 71-kilogram weight category concluded with the victory of a Turkish athlete.

Yusuf Genç’s path to the championship in the total (332) resembled walking on a tightrope. The eventual champion missed his first two attempts in the snatch and only reached the desired result on his third lift with 147 kilograms. The clean and jerk was no easier for him; in this case, his first attempt (185) proved successful, while the remaining two were unsuccessful.

The silver medal in the total (330) was claimed by Armenia’s Gor Sahakyan, who was the best in the snatch (150), while recording the third-best result in the clean and jerk (180).

With fifth place in the snatch (145) and a silver medal in the clean and jerk (183), neutral athlete Yahor Papou earned the bronze medal in the total (328).

Among the medalists was Azerbaijan’s Isa Rustamov, who earned a silver medal in the snatch (147).
